Remove duplicate rows from a CSV
Drop a CSV, choose how duplicates are detected, and download the cleaned file. The first copy of each row is kept. The file stays on your computer. This is a free tool from CSV Fixer.
How it works and when to use it
The tool reads your file in the browser and parses it with a standard CSV parser, so commas and line breaks inside quoted cells do not split a row. It then walks down the rows in order and keeps the first occurrence of each one. Later copies are dropped, and the count of removed rows is shown before you download.
There are two ways to match. "Every column is identical" removes only exact copies, which is what you want after merging several exports. Choosing a single column, such as an email address or an order ID, removes any row whose value in that column has already appeared, even if the other cells differ. In that mode the earliest row wins, so sort the file first if you want to keep, for example, the newest record.
Matching is exact: [email protected] and
[email protected] count as different, as do values that differ
only by a trailing space. The header row is never removed. Files are
limited to 50 MB, and nothing is uploaded.
FAQ
Which row is kept when there are duplicates?
The first one in file order. Every later row with the same match is removed.
Why were two similar rows not removed?
Matching is exact. A different capital letter or an extra space makes a value distinct. Trimming spaces first with CSV Fixer usually fixes this.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The comparison runs in your browser tab, and the cleaned file is created on your computer.
